CHARLIE ACKRON !!The one thing that Charlie was feeling right now was tired. Her whole day was just tiring in general. First she had to wake up extra early to pull together a horribly written Charms essay that she knows that she failed. Then she had to actually go to classes and she just barely understood a thing. After classes were over she had to run to her dorm and change into her Quidditch gear, grab some food, and book it to the Quidditch Pitch.
Quidditch is one of the only things that Charlie is good at. That’s why she is so bent on being really good, also she is super competitive but that is for any type of competition. After a two hour practice the team shuffled back to the common room completely tired. However most of them didn’t get anything to eat so they went to the Cafeteria and got some food. Charlie on the other hand went straight for the common room.
Once she finally got to the common room she walked over to a couch and plopped down without even looking. After a minute she realized something under her… rather someone. Totally surprised Charlie yelped and jumped in the air completely startled. Falling off the couch onto the floor Charlie looked around, totally confused.

Andrew sighed and flipped the page. He had been reading his History of Magic for the past hour. Not that it was boring or anything, but reading had always made him a tad bit drowsy. As did oranges and chocolate cake, but that was beside the point. He carefully let the words soak in as he sat there. The common room hadn't been his first idea for a reading spot, but it would have to suffice. He had first opened the book in his own room, but for one, the lighting was horrible, and two after the first few chapters he just couldn't seem to concentrate on the book, like his room was distracting him. Sure it's not the most explainable thing, but that's simply what had happened.
So here he was, with his book open in his lap. He had lost track of the time, but he usually did when he was reading. He flipped the page a second time. Subconsciously he heard the footsteps and the shuffling, but he was too engrossed in his book for it to really register. Usually most people just ignore him, or even don't notice him and go to the rooms, or do what ever it is there doing. But in all his days of being invisible he had never actually been sat on. Now, being sat on is a very unexpected thing, unexpected and embarrassing on both parts. The person-er, the girl who sat on him was now on teh floor, looking around in surprise and confusion. He cleared his throat and thought of something to say, but nothing in his head seemed fit.

CHARLIE ACKRON !!This just wasn’t what Charlie expected when she decided to take a nap on the couch. She was too tired to even think of going past there to her dorm but now she was wide awake and really confused. After looking around with her golden brown eyes wide and confused she heard a cough and looked up to see a guy that was a year older than her… maybe.
Charlie knew she had seen this guy around the common room before but never really talked to him. All she did was either hang out in her dorm or talk to friends in the common room, plus she was usually at Quidditch and trying to do some homework. So she really didn’t have time to talk to him if she wanted to. Quite frankly before she didn’t want to talk to him, but now she was wide awake from shock.
Finally regaining some composure Charlie sat up straight and looked at him… she was pretty sure his name was Andrew… yeah that was probably right. ”Sorry about that… Andrew?” Charlie was horrible at remembering things, so if she couldn’t remember school work names weren’t too far off. ”I didn’t mean to sit on you.”

His knuckles were white from gripping his book so hard. The boy had never been good with people, it just a fact. Like how a Basilisk is green or a phoenix is an herbivore, Andrew Jaques is simply not a people person. He preferred being alone in his room rather than anything else, but of course, the one time he does decide to visit the common room, something like this happens. He wasn’t mad, mostly because he didn’t know how to be mad, just a tad shaken and surprised. “Uh, I, um..” He shook his head, hoping he would be able to form some kind of coherent sentence, but nothing worked.
“Me, Andrew?” Had he just said that? “I mean, yeah, I’m, uh, Andrew.” He nodded, probably more than he needed to and then sat there, looking kinda dumb. He felt slightly bad for not knowing the girls name. He wasn’t surprised though, I mean, he didn’t really talk to people, and people never talked to him, so the name process had never really been a big part of his life. “You sat one me?” He hadn’t really meant to say it out loud, and in his head, it had been more of a statement than a question, but he did tend to say his thoughts out load when he was nervous.

CHARLIE ACKRON !!Quite honestly Andrew was quite funny to watch. He kind of stuttered out his response and didn’t make much sense and Charlie just sat there smiling and looking up at him with her golden brown eyes because she still hadn’t gotten up from the ground yet. However he finally confirmed that his name was Andrew and Charlie had to try not to giggle.
Then when he said that she sat on him, but his tone was questioning. Letting down her long light brown hair from the pony tale it was in Charlie laughed out loud, not at him but at the situation. This would happen when Charlie wanted to go to sleep instead of run around and have fun. Since the tiredness was gone from her Charlie yawned and stood up to her five foot four inch height and stretched her arms.
”Well yeah I kinda did,” Charlie said matter of factly and sat down on the couch next to him. ”I mean I was really tired from Quidditch practice soooo I just was kind of out of it. Oh I’m Charlie by the way.” Okay so Charlie totally babbling but that’s how she was when she met new people. ”Yeah so I’m sorry about that. What are you reading anyway?” Charlie asked and poked the book in his hand.

The boy watched as she took her hair out of the pony tail. He could see the amusement on her face even before she laughed. Why was she laughing? At him? But he hadn’t really done anything worth laughing at, had he? Usually when people laughed at him there was a reason behind it. He looked down at his lap, and at his hands holding the old brown book. He looked back up at her when she stood up and stretched. It reminded him of a cat, which made him feel bad for comparing her to a cat. He shock his heads. God he had such random and pointless thoughts. Her words made his eyebrows draw together.
When she introduced herself he gave the smallest of smiles. “Uhm, yeah, it’s nice to, uh, meet you,” he scratched his head. Why had she sat next to him? He couldn’t help but wonder. Most people didn’t even acknowledge his existence let alone introduce themselves. When she asked about his book, it took him a minute to remember it was even there. “Oh, uh, it’s the Magic of Histo- I mean the History of Magic book.” God, did every sentence have to be screwed up? “It’s not exactly the most common reading material of choice, but I happen to like it; probably more than the average guy."

CHARLIE ACKRON !!The little voice in Charlie’s head just awwwed. Andrew was so socially awkward it was cute. Charlie was definitely a people person and didn’t really mind that Andrew wasn’t very good at making conversation. Either way Charlie thought she would enjoy hanging out with Andrew for a while. Maybe she could even help make him less awkward. One thing was for sure Charlie was game to help anyone on anything she could.
Generally Charlie was a very helpful person. There were two things she wasn’t though, school and competition. School was just baffling to Charlie and she barely understood anything that the Professors were babbling about and it took her forever to get incantations and wand movements right. As for competition Charlie just liked winning, it gave her a rush and a thrill, maybe because it meant she was good at something, which was probably it.
When he said he was reading a school book Charlie was in awe. People actually read school stuff for entertainment? One thing was for sure Charlie didn’t. Maybe she should, and then she could actually know something that had to do with schoolwork, but when would she ever find time to pick up a book and actually read it. If she barely had time for homework how would she have time for doing school stuff for fun?
”Wow…” Charlie said her golden brown eyes wide in shock and confusion. ”I am not good at History of Magic at all… Actually I’m not really good at school in general… That doesn’t really matter though.” Once again Charlie was talking a lot. ”You know you don’t have to be so nervous, I don’t bite.” Charlie told him and gave him a big smile.

Her reaction to his book almost made him laugh. Almost. Most people had reactions like that, if any reaction at all. Even back when he was in muggle school. Learning things like social studies and all that nonsense. He had used to take home his school books, even when he didn’t have homework to do. Purely because he enjoyed all the knowledge they contained. Of course, like most, he much preferred wizardry school than muggle school. There was so much more to learn in the wizarding world, so many things that intrigued and awed him.
The way she spoke of school did not surprise him. Most felt the same, though he never could quite understand it. He stayed quiet, even after she said the bit about being nervous. He gave a sheepish grin at her huge smile. He supposed she was just trying to be nice, and as so, he naturally felt thankful for people like her. He knew she was right though, he was a nervous wreck, but like stated in the latter, it’s just the way he was and had always been. “Yes, well, school has always been my strong point... whereas socializing and such have never really been my strong point... in any way... at all,” He spoke honestly, looking up to see the girl- Charlie’s face.

CHARLIE ACKRON !!Seriously Charlie was surprised that Andrew couldn’t hear her brain making awwwes in her head. Honestly it was so adorable having him be so socially awkward. It was obvious that he was smart though. Its not like it took someone like a Luminosity kid to figure that out. The people that were lacking in the book smarts department like Charlie could even tell that he enjoyed learning and what not. Total opposite of Charlie is what he was.
It kind of baffled Charlie how two people of near exact opposites could be in the same house. Sure the two probably had the main qualities of the house, kindness and loyalty and what not, but he was smart and anti-social and she was pretty dumb and a social butterfly. However no matter how opposite that didn’t stop Charlie from talking to someone and trying to be their friend, actually the challenge made her want it even more.
”Ha, well is the exact opposite for me,” Charlie said with a smile and a sigh. ”School and me just don’t mix. I don’t understand any of it but potions really.” How true the words were that came out of Charlie’s mouth. ”You know once you get used to people you can talk. You are now.” Charlie told him with a smile.

Andrew resisted the urge to correct her grammar as she said ‘school and me’. He nodded at her words, understanding what she meant even though-like she had said-there situations were opposite. “Wait, so you’re good with potions, but not the other classes?” Sure, it wasn’t his most thought out questions, but it one of the first that had popped into his mind after she had stopped talking. Usually, Potions was a more difficult class, even for him, not really difficult, but he put in more work in that class than he did in most.
He thought about her last few words. He was talking more openly wasn’t he? Maybe not making much sense, and not really thinking about what he was saying, but hey, baby steps was what it was all about. He scratched his head and fiddled with book in his lap.
>sorry, this is definitely not my best work D:

CHARLIE ACKRON !!Andrew seemed baffled that Charlie could be good at Potions but not anything else. That was odd. Surely Potions was an easy class for her but was it actually a difficult class for others? For Charlie she just followed the directions and it worked but the other classes you had to practice and memorize and have the correct incantation and wand movements, it was complicated and just too much.
”Well yeah…” Charlie said, not too sure where he was going with his question. Well he was kind of socially awkward so maybe he just didn’t know how to do conversation. Either way Charlie didn’t mind that he had no concept of conversation, well that Charlie was aware of. Leaning back into the couch Charlie sighed, she wasn’t tired anymore and she needed entertainment, so this conversation was going to have to get more interesting.
Turning around to face Andrew, Charlie sat there Indian style and poked his shoulder. ”You know what. You need to have some fun, instead of reading all night.” Charlie said. Maybe to Andrew reading was fun but to Charlie reading was far from the most enjoyable thing to do. ”Wanna go swimming?” Charlie asked. Yes it was an insane idea, one that she has already done in this awesomely cold month of October, but even though the water was like ice it was still fun!
