Jess had arrived late to term this year and really, who was to blame her. She was 17 and this was her last year at Salem, so like, whatever. Her first destination was the cafeteria, because... well, she always got a plate of food for dinner here. Her bags were up in her room, thank you magic, and she was wearing casual clothes because she didn't feel like dressing her robes, just to have to get into her PJs later.
As she sat down alone in the dining hall she looked around at the place and sighed. Her dislike of owls made sending messages a lot more complicated, so she wasn't sure if Rena had gotten her muggle-sent letter.
Plus, she couldn't remember if Em actually knew that she was coming, or that her little sister had just assumed that Jess was over high school. Jess sighed at the thought of her sister. Emily wasn't too fond of her, but since she was the big sister, she still had a desire to protect the little blonde at all costs.
"One potato, two potato," she muttered to herself tapping the edge of her plate with her finger. Very soon an array of food appeared on the table before her and she grabbed herself some roast beef and potatoes to go along with her pumpkin juice.

It was late at night and Emily had just gotten in from roaming around the grounds, the bottom of her robes dirty with the mud from the recent rain. She dashed into the main hall, earning a disapproving look from the Charms professor who was locking the front door, her wand snapping against her hand. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I hadn't realized how late it was." She explained. Its fine, Miss Walker, just be aware from now on. Next time its detention." The professor turned back to the door and with a wave of her wand the door was locked. Emily shook her head some and started walking to the main staircase, the one that split off into the different hallways to each house and stopped when her stomach growled loudly, reminding her that she hadn;t eaten since breakfast. She pulled out her wand and quickly cleaned up herself, not wanting to go into the dinning hall looking like she was just rolling in mud. She was putting her wand back into the pocket inside of her robes, looking down as she walked in to the dinning hall, hearing soft mummers of people talking letting her know that she wasn't the only one up. Finally getting her wand into the pocket, she looked up and started to her house table when she looked at the Dissemblance table, which was right across from the Luminosity table. And lo an behold, there sat her sister, Jessica. Emily froze in the process of sitting down, suddenly not hungry anymore. She swallowed and straightened, intent on leaving. She definitely did not want to see her sister right now. Emily had figured that she had just decided not to come this year and go do whatever, but like in the past, Jessica had changed her mind again.

It must have been pure familial telepathy that had Jess turning around and spotting the sight of Em. She wanted to smile, but the frown on her sister's face made it hard to do. Instead she huffed, sighed and turned back to her food stabbing at the potatoes. It wasn't long before she had turned them to smush and couldn't take not thinking about her sister any more.
With another huff, Jess rose and moved over to her sister.
"Hey," she said with as little emotion as possible. She just wanted to check up on the girl.

Emily stiffened as Jessica turned around and came over to her. A tiny sigh escaped her lips. She didn't want to be emotionally drained the next day and that is exactly how she was after each encounter with her sister. She sat down slowly and folded her hands in front of her, very formally. "Hey." Jessica started. Emily swallowed and looked up, meeting her sister's eyes. It was strange to see so much of herself and her parents in someone that was so different from her. She took one of the empty goblets from the middle of the table and it was immediately filled with pumpkin juice and she took a sip to wet her dry throat. "Hi." She replied. She chewed on her bottom lip, a bad habit she had since she was little.

The two of them stared at each other from much longer than she would care to enjoy, saying nothing, doing nothing. She sighed and shook her head, digging in her pocket. A second later she produced a small box. Inside of it, her sister would find a small scarab beetle medallion.
Jess didn't want to bring anything back, but their mother had insisted that it would be the right thing to do.
"Mom told me to bring you something from Morocco," she answered holding the item out towards her little sister. "And to send her an owl. She hasn't heard from you in a while."
She waited a second then, her foot tapping nervously on the ground. Then she frowned and moved away from her sister and back to the table.

When Jessica handed her the small black box, Emily took it gingerly, her fingertips resting on it. "Mom told me to bring you something from Morocco," A tiny smile crept on to Emily's lips. It was just like her mom to say something like that. Cara Walker was always trying to get her two daughters to be friends, or to at least talk to each other more, but Emily just didn't see that happening. She tucked the small box in to her pocket and said a soft "Thank you." She may not get along with her sister, but they were still polite to each other when the situation called for it. She nodded when Jessica told her their mom wanted an owl. Cara made it clear that she wanted an owl every week from each of her daughters and Emily had been slacking, it had been almost 3 weeks since she had sent on out. She was surprise that Cara hadn't sent a howler, yelling at her for it.
Emily looked up as Jessica got up from the table with a sigh and went back over to her own house table. Emily's shoulders slumped and she got up as well, her appetite disappearing. She walked down middle of the dinning hall, her robes whispering around her ankles. She stopped at the door, her hand on the frame and looked back at Jessica. Just a glance and she was gone, her mood down the drain. She had gotten halfway to her house when she realized she had left her books in the dinning hall earlier that day, not wanting to take them back up to her dorm. She sighed again and ran back down the hall, her footsteps echoing along the empty hallway.
By the time she returned to the dinning hall, some of the other students who had been there before had left, though Jess was still there. And Emily's books happened to be under her arm. It seemed that Jess had found her stuff and was holding it for her to give to her later. Emily looked down and then back to her sister, walking slower now, her footsteps a soft sound on the marble.

Em said nothing more than a brief thank you in response to getting the gift. She didn't even look at it. As she took her seat Jess said down and huffed before continuing to eat. Em had been very bitter when her sister had been placed in Dissemblence, following in their mother's footsteps. A year later, Emily had joined Salem following their father's family house.
And whatever, Jess though shaking her head. If the stupid girl couldn't look over that it didn't matter, she should just... go and be friends with a giant. Jess shook her head and turned looking to see if her sister was still there, but 'loh and behold the other blonde had left. Left her books that was. Shaking her head, Jess rose and moved over grabbing the books with a glare at the little Luminosity girl sitting on the bench. Brat.
Turning and shaking her head Jess moved and found Emily running through the front of the door. Both of the looked down at the books and Emily moved towards her older sister.
"Don't leave your stuff lying around like that," Jess scolded. "Or you'll end up naked one day because you forgot your clothes." It was harsh, but it didn't matter. Right now, she had decided to be angry. Now where was that boy from last year... what was his name.
She stopped and turned around back to her sister.
"Tell mom I said hi," she said before leaving the cafeteria and rushing up to her bedroom. Maybe Rena would make the day a bit better.
((end thread for Jess))

Emily blinked as Jess stood a thrust her books at her, speaking in a harsh voice. "Don't leave your stuff lying around like that," Jess scolded. "Or you'll end up naked one day because you forgot your clothes." Jessica had never talked to her like that, and to be honest, it surprised Emily. But then again, that's one thing from their mother that Emily didn't get. That sharp glare Jess was wearing now was all mom's. Emily's face crumpled a little as she took her books and took a step back. She was speechless and couldn't find the words to reply.
Then Jess swept by, Emily moving move so not to be run over by her and she watched as Jess stopped a few yards away and turned back. "Tell mom I said hi." And then she was gone, her long blonde curls disappearing behind the dinning hall doors. And Emily still stood wondering what would happen now between the Walker sisters.
