Nick exhaled and he sat down heavily on an overturned bucket of fertilizer. He was more or less covered in dirt almost head to toe and his jacket was slung at the door, leaving him in a what used to be a white dress shirt and his demurra tie, both speckled with dirt. His pants were no better, in fact, they were worse; the black material having been covered in dirt and stained green from plants and grass.
Nick glared at the innocent looking pot before him. He blamed that thing. The plant, a big green thing with small yellow pods and orange flowers shuddered and a vine-like branch snaked towards him. His foot came down with a crunch on the branch and he heard the oddest sound, like a squeal from the thing.
This plant, whose name he didn't even know, had been his opponent all morning. The professor's version of a detention was cleaning Greenhouse 2 or 3, he couldn't remember. If anything, this was the one greenhouse with the most violate of magical plants and Nick didn't even do anything to deserve this. It was one of the other kids who threw the firecracker into the Professor's office. He just happened to be there at the wrong time.
Nick scowled and his stomach rumbled slightly. Man, fighting plants was hard work. Geez he was hungry.

Greenhouses. Definitely not her favorite place in the school, but she felt the need to wander over there. Was it because she could see another person in there getting attacked by one of the plants, or because she had nowhere else to go? Probably the former, but the latter played a role as well. Shuddering as she passed through the cool grass, Ashes noted the one convenience of the greenhouse: warmth. Her green eyes surveyed the somewhat frosted grass, the cold still making her shiver ever so softly.
A few more steps, then she was closing the door behind her and already warming up inside. Raising an eyebrow as she saw Nick, an old friend of hers, trying to clean but was rather being attacked, she somehow managed to hear his stomach growl over the sounds that the . . . thing was making. "Hey, Nick," she called, pausing about ten feet away. She had brought two Hershey's chocolate bars with her to snack on whenever she got to wherever her feet led her; it was probably the only Muggle food she really had left.
"You look-- and sound-- hungry. Here," Ashes murmured, walking close enough to hand him the chocolate. Eyes scrutinizing the dirt that Nick was practically bathing in, she forced back a laugh. He looked ridiculous like that, but it almost suited him.
Almost.
[ xD I'm eating Hershey's chocolate right now <33 ]

Ehren practically hopped his way towards the greenhouse his best friend was working/serving detention in. The professor was a jerk, he decided. He hadn’t even tried to find out who threw the firecracker into his office and already declared Nick was guilty. Just because he was around when the firecracker went off. That wasn’t enough to declare him guilty. What kind of logic was that? He hadn’t even bothered to cast a spell or something that would tell him who or what went into his office. Jerk.
The tall teenager shivered when a particularly cold gust of air blew towards him and he hastened towards the greenhouse. He almost paused as he hurried when he arrived at the line of greenhouses. He couldn’t seem to remember which one exactly that his friend was stuck in. Ehren, instead of waiting, just tugged his jacket closer and headed towards the one where sounds of…was that fighting? He peered in through a frosted window and saw the back of his friend’s head. He grinned and walked towards the door, slipping into the warmer greenhouse.
The other was sitting on a bucket, looking weary and hungry and definitely covered in dirt. Ehren cringed slightly, those stains will be hard to get out; those poor house elves will be cheering. He blinked when he saw Nick raise his foot and crush something beneath his shoe. He blinked even more when his ears picked up the sound of something growling. Wait, was that…oh yeah. That sounded like Nick’s stomach. It took him a moment of scrutinizing before he noticed the dark haired girl next, though still a few feet away, to Nick. He recognized her immediately. Ashes.
“Hey Nick, You look-- and sound-- hungry. Here,"[/b] She handed him a chocolate bar she was holding and then took in how messy Nick looked.
“Nick have you been here all morning? That’s some awful detention,” Ehren asked, walking toward them and announcing his presence. He stepped neatly over a wandering snake-branch thing and headed towards them, hands shoved in his pockets. “Hey Ashes,”

It seemed like everyone was headed over there or something. Her step was brisk, nearing Ehren as she wandered on after. "Ehren! Wait up!" She called, but the door was closing before the notes of her voice ended. Speeding up, she began a slow run and quickly approached the door. Grace opened it, letting it close on it's own. "Hey, Ashes," was all she managed to hear. "You buttmunch. I was calling you," she said, frowning at Ehren.
"Hello Nick, Ashes," she greeted the other two, blinking. Ehren was the only one in her house out of the three others there, the only one she really knew anything about. The air was chilly, but she was still sweating a bit after sitting in front of the fire in the common room. Grace blinked twice as she noticed that both Ashes and Nick were holding chocolate and neither had offered any to Ehren or herself, even though they'd both just arrived. From their postures she assumed that it was the other girl who'd given it to the guy; but whatever, she didn't care.
[ nyah. too lazy to come up with new colors for her. if you want me to change them, just tell me~ ]

Nick grinned when a bar of chocolate was shown in front of his face and he turned. He hadn’t heard the girl over the din of the plant’s squealing and he brightened even more. The girl looked a little cold, her cheeks seemed a bit flushed and she had chocolate in her hands. She looked amused by his appearance but he didn’t care. He stood from the bucket, a foot coming down hard on a wandering branch eliciting another squeal and he grinned brightly.
“Ashes! The person after my own heart! You brought me chocolate!” Nick crowed. He eagerly took the chocolate from her and tore the wrapper open before hearing the other two voices.
“Nick have you been here all morning? That’s some awful detention,”
"You buttmunch. I was calling you," [/b]
“Ren! Gracie!” Nick called out. He broke some chocolate off and held the bar out to Ehren and the Grace. “Chocolate?” He bit into his bit of chocolate and grinned. “Yeah. I’ve been here all morning. The Prof said that I needed to clean the entire greenhouse.” He jerked his head backwards to the plant behind him and then turned his head slightly to avoid a pellet that it spat. “This thing, whatever it is hasn’t been helping. It’s been trying to eat me all morning,” He turned to Grace. “So this buttmuch was ignoring you?"

“Ashes! The person after my own heart! You brought me chocolate!”
Ashes turned and briskly moved over to Grace, offering half of the chocolate bar she had kept. Her cheeks were flushed now, scarlet. She hoped that the other girl would understand; after all, they were pretty good friends. Unable to bring her own chocolate to her mouth, she discreetly handed it to Grace and turned, glad that her cheeks were as pale as ever again. "Here, Nick, you want me and Gracie to distract it while you clean up?" She had to steady her voice, trying to hide the slight shaking. The plant-creature-thing was still trying to attack anyone within it's reach. Ashes figured that Grace would protest to her offer, but she prayed she wouldn't.
She sighed softly, knowing that Nick would probably take hr up on that offer and sooner than later she herself would be soaked in dirt as well. This was going to be a long day.
