A lone figure walked onto the quidditch field, Firebolt in hand, her blue uniform robe fluttering around her ankles. It was dark and gloomy outside, not ideal conditions for flying, but Emily Walker thought it was perfect. She liked to fly when no one else was around, it allowed her to actually think and just glide around, relaxing. Flying was one of the things that was truly hers, meaning that her sister wanted nothing to do with it. Emily shook her head violently, her blond ponytail whipping side to side, as if to shake away the thoughts of her sister. This was her time to be herself, not dwell on Jessica.
She blinked against the slight wind, and walked into the field, taking a deep breath of the freshly mowed grass, a smile creeping on her face. She hefted her broom in her hand, and climbed on, pushing off hard. The wind sailed past her, stinging her eyes and widening the grin on her face. She climbed higher and higher, until the cold wind bit at her cheeks and made her eyes water, then she dipped the front of her broom forward and started into a nose dive, not caring who saw.

sarena made her way down to the quittich pitch, broom and quaffle in hand. it was a dreary, overcast day, which wasn't exactly good for practice conditions, but she didn't mind. her intentions were to fly up to the goal whoops, and bewitch the quaffle to fly at her. sarena was a pretty decent keeper, but there was always room for imrovement.
but when she finally reached her destination, she was a bit annoyed. somebody was already there, and by the looks of their uniform, the person was in luminosiy. a further inspection showed that it was a girl. sarena recognized her from seeing her face around the grounds, but they hadn't ever spoke. just then, sarena was struck with a brilliant idea; she could be friend this girl, and hopefully gain her as a follower. after all, the clever people in luminosity could be very helpful.
mounting her broom, sarena left her quaffle laying on the ground. she soared over to the girl, admiring her nosedive. when she had gotten close enough, she stopped flying and yelled "hey!" over the whistling wind.

With the wind whistling in her ears, Emily could barely hear someone shout "Hey!" but she caught it just in time to pull out of her nose dive, and hover for a moment 10 feet off the ground. It had always amazed her how she wasn't afraid of heights when she was on a broom. Its like all her silly fears melted away and she was free to love the dizzying drop without passing out. But that was a thought for another time. She looked up to see who had called to her and hesitated for a second. It was Sarena Rockwell. It was widely known of her views versus her sister's on the aspect of the muggle-born and purebloods. Emily was a pureblood herself, but she never really cared to get into the whole situation. Though she had never been approached by either of the sister before either. She flew up to Sarena with a bit of caution.
Upon flying closer, Emily smiled some, one hand curled around the handle of her broom, the other hanging at her side. She was the picture of ease, though she was curious as to what Sarena wanted. "Hi. Sorry were you suppose to practice here?" Her eyes darted to the quaffle laying on the ground and back to the older girl. "I kinda just came out here before looking at the board."

sarena sat, suspended in mid-air, one hand on her broom, as the girl flew towards her. sarena always felt at ease on a broomstick, and she loved the rush of zooming around with the wind rushing through her dark locks.
when the girl approached her and told her she had come out without checking the board, sarena felt a wave of annoyance wash over her. she really wanted to bitch this girl out, but refrained from it. she seemed like a nice girl, so sarena didn't want to be mean. plus, she must have had some brains.
sarena formed a fake smile. "i was going to practice, but it's alright. conditions aren't what i wanted anyway." she said, trying to sound as nice as possible. "nice nose dive. i'm sarena, by the way. i don't believe we've met?"

The hand clutching her broom handle tightened around it as Emily saw the flash of annoyance in Sarena's eyes. Sh had seen it many times before in the eyes of her sister and it wasn't a good sign to Emily. But the other girl plastered a smile on and Emily decided to let it go. Sarena wasn't the person to get on her bad side. Emily smiled a little when she commented on her nose dive. "Thanks. I've seen you fly before too. Your really good." Even though she had been playing since she was a 4th year, Sarena probably hadn't given her a passing glance. Just another trait Emily had observed from the students from Dissemblance. Her thoughts were running wild on her and nodded as Sarena introduced herself.
"I'm Emily. Its nice to meet you, though its understanble why we haven't meet. I'm a 6th year and your a 7th year and they only place we could really meet was on the Qudditch field. Though its kinda hard to talk when your flying around." She said with a witty grin. But she understood she would have to tread carefully around Sarena and watch what she said.

after emily had complimented her on her quittich skills, sarena decided that she liked her. she seemed nice, and sincere. "thanks" she said with a smile, before realizing that it was starting to rain. "its nice to meet you emily....hey, wanna go sit in the stand, and get out of the rain?" she asked, looking into the luminosity girls eyes and daring her to decline.

She smiled and nodded. "Its the truth." sincerely. Emily did admire Sarena for her Quidditch skills. "And its my pleasure." Just as Sarena mentioned the rain, it began to drizzle and then fatter drops of water began to fall. Emily looked up at the darkening sky and then back to Sarena, nodding as raindrops began to pelt her. "Yea that seems like a good idea." She said with a smile. She would still be a bit wary of Sarena, but it seemed for now she was being sincere. Emily would just have to see how everything played out. She motioned to the stands with her head. "Lets go before we get too soaked." She turned her broom around and darted off to the stands, stopping to hover over them for a moment before jumping off and landing smoothly in the sturdy wood.
She turned around to sit and saw Sarena flying toward her, the rain following. Both girls had made it under the cover of the stands just in time for the downpour of water. Emily blinked the rain out of her eyes as she sat, tucking her robes around her legs, because wind was getting a bit chilly. She looked to Sarena and bit her bottom lips some, not really sure what to say. Being shy really had its downfalls. It was like Emily was a completely different person on a broom, confident and sure of herself, but once off the broom she was just Emily Walker, the shy girl everyone overlooked. Well except to comment on her hair. Today it was just in a simple ponytail, but other days it was as crazy as she wanted it,though a sophisticated crazy. "So what are you up to?" Emily wanted to cringe as soon a the question came out. Its sounded as lame in her head, but it just spilled from her lips. Wow, I am an idiot... She thought.
ooc: ugh sorry about the power play there. -_-

sarena followed the blonde-haired girl towards the stands, and was glad that they had made it before the downpour. sarena loved the rain, to an extent, but she really didn't feel like messing up her hair at the moment. which was a totally contradictory, considering that she had planned to spend the day flying.
she rested her broom down next to her as she sat next to emily. "not much, really. just trying to find that perfect dress for the halloween dance, ya know? i want to find something gorgeous, and emerald." she said, pulling a bag of gummy worms out of her pocket. they were her favorite snack; something only ariella knew. "want one?" she asked, offering emily the bag.
she had formed a plan perfect in her head; be nice, talk a while, make emily open up to her, and then casually bring up the topic of blood status. yes, that was the perfect thing. she plopped a green gummy worm in her mouth, and waited for the girl to help herself to the delicious treat.
ooc; it's alright, love (:

Sarena sat next to her and talked about getting a dress for the upcoming Halloween dance. Wait Halloween dance? Emily could have smacked herself. How could she forget the biggest dance of the year so far was coming up? She mentally groaned. Of course her parents would want her to go, but there was a good chance her sister would be there and Emily wanted no part of that. She was glad that she saw as little of Jessica at school as it was. She pushed aside all thought of her sister and smiled some when Sarena offered her a gummy worm. Not her favorite candy, but a good one none the less.
"Thanks. And the Halloween dance. Yeah I still need to find a dress as well. It's embarrassing to say, but I completely forgot about it " And now that she knew, she would be expecting an owl from her parents any day now, telling her to go. Though they were only bookstore owners, Emily's family had some wealth in it. Even with the money they had, her parents chose to run the bookstore, it made them happy, but they wanted more for their daughters, and they had been trying for years to break the shell around Emily and she just knew they would jump at the opportunity to make her go to a dance. A small sigh escaped her lips and she popped the gummy worm in her mouth, chewing slowly.
She watched the rain, but saw out of the corner of her eye that Sarena was watching her. Emily reminded herself that she would have to watch herself around Sarena. She was the type of girl to make or break a person, and Emily had no desire to be one of the broken ones.

sarena smiled in a friendly way when emily accepted the gummy worms. she was beginning to really like this girl, despite the fact that she seemed to have no confidence. to sarena, the most beautiful girls were the most confident.
"how could you forget about something as awesome as a halloween dance?" sarena exclaimed. to her, dances were one of the most important social events. "i could help you find a dress, if you want. you would look great in silvery blue."
she plopped a few more gummy worms in her mouth, and the rain began to settle down a bit. perhaps when her persuasion was finished, she'd actually get some practice in.

"How could you forget about something as awesome as a Halloween dance?" Sarena exclaimed. Emily shrugged some, a small sheepish smile on her face. "I guess I was caught up in other things that it never occurred to me." Sarena was the queen of social activities and it was a little embarrassing to tell her that, but hey, they had just met, no big deal. Then Sarena offered to help her find a dress. That threw her, and she blinked a few times before she responded. Um, well that was unexpected. She thought. She dismissed her surprise and smiled at Sarena. "Uh yeah, that sounds great. Thank you." She leaned back against the wood behind her and observed the lessing rainfall. Maybe she would be able to fly a bit more.
She glanced down at her broom and ran a finger over the worn, smooth wood. It was an older model, the fastest of its kind when it came out, but by now it was almost slow compared to the latest brooms. This Firebolt was specifically for leisure flying, not for games, like she told her parents. They thought it was a waste of money to have two brooms, but Emily didn't care. She would never fly this one in a game. It was practically an antique, but she loved it. It had been her uncle's while he was in school, but he had attended Hogwarts School over in Europe before the war with Voldermort. They had only had one letter from him since then. Emily hoped he was ok, because he was her favorite family member, though he was quite younger than her Father. She thought about it, doing the math. Uncle Jacq would be about 28 now...

sarena kinda frowned when she saw the shock on the girls face at her invitation. was she really that much of a bitch that it was surprising when she was nice? a little confused, she decided that she would be very nice to this girl; she seemed genuine and smart, but a little innocent. maybe sarena would take her under her wing; bring out emily's wild side.
"i could help you do your hair before the dance too, if you'd like. i'm good at that kind of stuff" she said absently, picking at her chipping crimson nail polish.

Emily nodded some, watching as Sarena picked at her nails. Maybe the things she had heard about Sarena weren't all that true. She was being really nice and even offered to help Emily after she just met her. She smiled some and watched the rain, replying after a minute. "I think that'd be great. Thanks." Perhaps there would be a chance they could be friends, and maybe Sarena could help Emily come out of herself more. She looked up at the sky and say the drops of water coming fewer and farther together. It was stopping. She turned to Sarena. "Wanna get some practice in before it gets dark?"
ooc: a crappy post, I apologize -_-

sarena looked at the rain stopping, but decided that now she really didn't want to practice anymore. for some strange reason of fate, she had met this girl, and somewhat befriended her. after only talking for a few minutes, sarena had decided that she genuinly liked the 6th year luminosity student. "actually, i'm kind of getting hungry. wanna go grab some lunch?"
ooc; it's fine (: i didn't think it was crappy

Maybe she could be friends with Sarena. Emily nodded when Sarena suggested they go get some lunch. "Sounds great. Though if its ok, I wanna stop by my dorm to drop my stuff off." She didn't particularly want to carry her broom all over the school and she didn't think that Sarena did either. Plus her robes were wet and she wanted to grab a new jacket. She stood and brushed her rain soaked bangs out of her eyes and smiled some as she waited for Sarena to grab her things.
